Reinstalling Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

  • Close Microsoft Edge browser, if running > Open up File Explorer > Enable hidden files.

  • Navigate to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages
  • Replace “UserName” with your user name.
  • Find Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and delete it.

  • It might take about some time to find packages and remove it.

  • You can see “Do you want to permanently delete this folder? > click Yes button.

  • Windows 10 will take a couple of minutes to delete this folder.
  • Click Skip, If it refuses to delete some files.

  • Restart PC > Launch PowerShell as admin.

  • Navigate to your user account’s directory with cd C:\users\yourusername
  • Replace “yourusername” with your user name of your account.

Copy and paste the following command in the prompt > Enter key.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

  • You will see Operation completed message.

  • That’s it. Now Restart your computer and Microsoft Edge Browser is reinstalled.
