Fix Microsoft Teams Camera Greyed Out Issue

Fix Microsoft Teams don’t detect a camera

If Microsoft Teams don’t detect the camera, then you should re-register the camera hardware on your computer. That’s how you can do it.

  • Firstly right-click on the Start button and choose Windows Powershell (Admin).

  • Click Yes to proceed. In the Powershell console, copy-paste the following command and hit Enter–

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsCamera | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  • Close Powershell and go to Microsoft Teams to check if the issue is resolved.

How do I enable my camera on the Microsoft team?

It is possible that the camera is not enabled, and therefore you the camera is greyed out or not detected by Microsoft Teams. Here’s how you can enable the camera.

Provide Camera Access to Microsoft Teams

  • From the Windows Start menu, go to privacy settings.

  • On the left, scroll down to navigate App Permissions -> Camera.

  • Click on the camera to open the camera settings and enable the option – Allow apps to access your camera. 

  • Scroll down to enable one more option – Allow desktop apps to access your camera.

  • Open the desktop app, and in Profile icon, select settings.
  • Go to Permissions and turn on the option – Media (Camera, microphone, speakers).

  • In case it was already on, turn it off and on again. It may resolve the issue for you.

Why can’t I share my screen in MS teams? 

If you find yourself unable to share the screen in Microsoft teams, then there could be the following possible reasons behind it. Let’s find out.

  • Check whether you are using an updated version of Microsoft teams because an outdated version might be causing the issue of screen sharing.
  • Next, check if the option of screen sharing is disabled in your settings. You can enable it by following the steps given further.

How do I test my Microsoft team camera? 

If you want to test your cameras in Microsoft Teams, you can make a test call. Here’s how!

  • Go to your profile icon and navigate Settings > Devices. 

  • Under Audio devices, choose the option to make a test call. 

  • Follow the instructions from test bot call, and then you can check how’s your cameras, microphone working.

How do I enable Screen sharing in Microsoft teams?

Follow the steps given below to enable screen sharing in Microsoft Teams.

  • First, move your mouse to the bottom middle corner of the screen and select chat control options. 

  • You can see a square box with an arrow. (Only visible to Mac OS and Windows 10 users).
  • Tap on it to start the screen-sharing session.
  • Finally, choose either one of your screen or the program window to share.

  • Once done, the shared area will have a red outline on it.
